Gordon Spice Trophy 2025: A New Era of Big-Engine Racing

The 82nd Members' Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport marked a significant change in the Gordon Spice Trophy format. The race transformed into an exclusive showcase of high-powered touring cars, creating intense battles between motorsport legends.

Key Changes for 2025

  • Grid Composition: All-big engine format
  • Smaller Capacity Cars: Moved to the new Win Percy Trophy
  • Race Format: Full-length touring car battle

Notable Competitors

The event attracted an impressive roster of racing talent:

  1. Professional Drivers

    • Tom Kristensen
    • Guy Smith
    • André Lotterer
    • Romain Dumas
  2. Veteran Racers
    • Tiff Needell
    • David Brabham

This year's running saw a grid made up entirely of big-engined brutes battling it out for victory.

Race Structure and Format

The restructuring of the Gordon Spice Trophy represents a significant shift in the event's history. By separating the big-engined cars from their smaller counterparts, the organizers created two distinct racing experiences:

Trophy Vehicle Type
Gordon Spice Big-engined touring cars
Win Percy Smaller capacity vehicles

Race Significance

The modification to the race format demonstrates the event organizers' commitment to:

  • Pure racing excitement
  • Competitive balance
  • Enhanced spectator experience

The smaller capacity cars that traditionally compete alongside them moved over into the all-new Win Percy Trophy.

Racing Evolution

This restructuring marks a new chapter in the Members' Meeting racing program. The separation of vehicle classes into dedicated events allows for:

  • More focused competition
  • Better matched racing
  • Enhanced strategic opportunities

The presence of multiple Le Mans winners, BTCC champions, and international racing stars elevated the event's prestige, creating what many consider the pinnacle of historic touring car racing at Goodwood.
